Creating a customer experience

Last week DSV hosted a customer event providing 3 hours of knowledge sharing and fun for both existing and new customers. The theme was ‘USA – land of opportunities’ with speakers Niels Larsen, president, Air & Sea (North America) and former US ambassador in Denmark, Rufus Gifford.

American flags, burgers and fries for lunch and a former US ambassador created the perfect American atmosphere at the two events hosted by Air & Sea in Denmark.  The events, named ‘USA – land of opportunities’, were well attended by both existing and potential customers.

Land of opportunities

Niels Larsen, President of Air & Sea, North America, gave the audience some interesting insights about DSV in the USA. With the merger of UTi, DSV grew from 8-900 to 5,000 employees in the US and expanded DSV’s service offering on the continent. Larsen made a point to tell the audience that all new DSV employees have received training in freight forwarding the “DSV way”.

Larsen explained how DSV handles the current challenges within freight forwarding in the US – from infrastructure issues, ever-expanding compliance demands from the government, and shortage of trucking companies. DSV knows how to handle these challenges, so the customers get the best service possible. With 650,000 shipments a year, DSV is growing and expanding in the US – with a clear and continuous focus on staying close to our customers and opening more offices.

 

A popular former ambassador and Donald Trump

After Niels Larsen, the popular former US ambassador in Denmark, Rufus Gifford, took the stage. Gifford is quite popular in Denmark – his record of accomplishments, beside his ambassadorship, includes a TV documentary and a book. Therefore, the audience listened closely when Gifford gave his perspective on the current political situation in the US - and personal view on Donald Trump. Gifford’s presentation provided both chills and laughs (there were some remarks on the President’s Twitter use) – and ended with Gifford sharing his ambitions for a political future in the United States.

About the customer event, Niels Larsen comments:
“These customer events are a great way to meet our customers face-to-face in a relaxed and fun setting. DSV should always give our customers a good experience whenever they are in contact with DSV, and this event provided ample opportunity for us to form and develop relationships with our customers”.
