Audi and DSV inaugurate new logistics centre in Heilbronn, Germany

Last week, AUDI AG has officially inaugurated its new logistics centre at the Böllinger Höfe industrial park in Heilbronn. In the future, DSV will supply the nearby Audi factory in Neckarsulm from this centre

After a six-month start-up phase, DSV is now fully in charge of running the 38,000 sq.m. logistics centre and replenishing inventories at the factory. About 160 employees are responsible for the timely delivery of supplies to the Audi location.

Every day, 160 inbound trucks are unloaded here in three shifts with approximately 4,500 pallets, which are taken directly to the production lines of the Audi models A4, A5 Cabrio, A6, A7, A8 and to that of R8 at quattro GmbH upon request. The vehicles making deliveries into the factory are monitored by GPS to make it possible to react promptly to any irregularities.

Stepwise transition

The transition at Böllinger Höfe has been completed in several phases. Immediately after the handover of the building in March 2014, 40 DSV employees were relocated. They had so far already operated a consolidation centre for Audi in Heilbronn. Further additional logistics services have subsequently been included stepwise and according to segments and models.

The stepwise transition and the start-up phase have been coordinated with Audi. We have had an excellent collaboration with Audi at a detailed level, and we are very pleased that the implementation was successful.
