DSV opens 6th Brazilian branch in Curitiba

DSV is opening a new branch in Curitiba, which will cover the southern States of Parana and Santa Catarina – making DSV's presence in Brazil's industrial south close to complete

Curitiba – the ecological capital of Brazil

The Curitiba branch is the sixth office opened by DSV Brazil since it started activities in June 2012. DSV Brazil is today employing 60 people in Sao Paulo, Santos, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, and now also Curitiba.
I’m very proud to be a part of DSV in Brazil. We are now working on putting a strong team together in Curitiba (CWB) in order to bring added value to the DSV network and the local freight market, expand our customer base quickly, and to help us grow with great financial stability
Alexandre Maruska, Branch Manager of DSV in Curitiba

Curitiba is nicknamed the "ecological capital of Brazil" for the attention its leaders gave to urban planning and sustainable urban development projects. It is also the capital of Parana State. The city is Brazil's second largest car manufacturer and considered by many to be the best location for investment in Brazil.

Its population of around 2.5 million people, many of them European immigrants from Germany, Italy, Poland and Ukraine, made the city grow on average by 7.1% per year over the past 30 years, which is higher than the national average of 4.2%. Income per capita is 66% higher in Curitiba than the Brazilian average.

Harvest time

Since mid-2012, DSV opened six branches in Brazil, three of which in 2014. After this fast expansion it is now time for Mikael Thomsen and his team to harvest what has been sowed. Jorgen Moller, CEO of DSV Air & Sea, commented "Growth remains our clear focus in Brazil, but we will now strike the pause button with regards to new branches openings, and concentrate on growing our market share in the 6 cities where are present".
