Windaba is the yearly renewable energy event in Cape Town, South Africa, where DSV's local office is involved in servicing the wind energy sector. Windaba is arranged by The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) and The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

"It's the annual opportunity to meet with business partners and potential new customers in the renewable energy sector from all of Southern Africa. Being part of the Danish business delegation provided a unique opportunity to promote our services to a whole range of potential new customers," says Thomas Hostrup, Branch Manager at DSV.

Among the participants are all major wind turbine manufacturers and wind sector support service companies. We were there to showcase our capabilities and services offered to the renewable energy sector.

As part of the Danish business delegation we also attended events in Johannesburg and Cape Town, planned and facilitated by the Royal Danish Embassy of South Africa and Denmark Wind Export Association (DWEA).

South Africa's energy programme

The South African government has been looking to increase the amount of energy coming from renewable sources as opposed to fossil fuels like coal and oil. In 2010, the country published its Integrated Resource Plan 2010-2030 which is a clear signal of the intent to move towards cleaner energy sources.
