We are keeping supply chains running, but some disruption is unavoidable.
As the situation continues to evolve and more countries are affected, DSV is well-prepared for keeping supplies moving – especially for high priority items such as medicines, protective clothing and food. As one of the largest transport service providers, we are in a position to acquire additional capacities and divert freight in order to work around difficulties.
What is the current situation in the Netherlands?
DSV is carefully monitoring the continous evolving situation around the spreading of the Corona COVID-19 and remains committed to mitigating any potential impact on the supply chains and operations of our customers. To this end, we have established several preventive measures to safeguard the health and well-being of our customers, suppliers, other business partners and ourselves but maintain our services to you as our customer as optimally as possible within the set governmental guidelines.
In the Netherlands, The Crisis Response Team (CRT) has been set up within DSV, which coordinates and communicates all topics on national level regarding the Corona Covid-19 virus for all customers, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders. In all its decisions, the CRT follows and acts according to the regulations of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
So far, the CRT has prescribed preventative rules for all DSV locations and employees in the Netherlands with regard to personal hygiene, visitors stop on all our locations, instructions for visiting drivers and health declarations of employees visiting customers and/or suppliers. In addition, all employees are extensively informed how to handle any health complaints that may be related to the Corona COVID-19 virus as well as how to maximize social distancing. All measures are communicated to all employees in high frequency per newsletter. Given the international nature of our organization, all communication is multilingual. The CRT communicates externally via our website and social media affiliated with DSV.
In accordance with the national measures taken by the Dutch government as well as the RIVM, the measures are effective today for everyone within DSV in the Netherlands. The regional directors, branch managers and operations managers of all DSV branches in the Netherlands have each made a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for each branch. They direct and lead the specific region and / or location. Besides that, a Business Continuity Plan is also available on national level.
The starting point in each BCP is to assure continuity and safety by determining who is present at the location and when so that our service and services to you as our customer can continue as optimally as possible within the set guidelines. In order to spread risks and increase prevention of Corona COVID-19 as much as possible, they will, until further notice, indicate for each location who works at the office and who works at home, how home working is supported by DSV, whether or not there will be shift work, how the breaks will be arranged, etc. This will be decided and communicated per location. In addition, on each location DSV has placed signing regarding social distancing as well as desinfection materials.
Also, traveling, even between DSV branches, is no longer allowed. A trip can only continue if it is business critical and has the approval of the person in charge of the specific DSV location. All appointments with external parties at locations of DSV and / or location of the external party are immediately cancelled and can only continue if they are business critical. The decision in this matter is up to the person in charge of the specific DSV location. This also means that we immediately no longer have conversations with applicants, visit events or congresses, visit or invite suppliers etc. Depending on changes in national measures, the decisions taken are adjusted and implemented if the local situation requires this.
