Facility Assistant, Maintenance Technician
Based in Tamworth, at DSV Mercia Park location, the above is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all warehouse equipment and facilities. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- To conduct regular inspections of warehouse facilities, machinery, and equipment to identity and address maintenance needs,
- To perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor systems, and other warehouse machinery,
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and coordinate repairs as necessary,
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders and inventory of parts,
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use if Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of warehouse layouts as needed for new inventory or seasonal changes,
- To collaborate with warehouse staff to minimise disruption during maintenance actives,
- To respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform repairs in a timely manner,
- To maintain cleanliness and organisation of maintenance tools, equipment and storage areas,
- And to participate in training programmes and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge relates to warehouse maintenance.
Qualifications:
- High School Education, or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance or a related field is preferred,
- Previous experience in a warehouse maintenance role or similar position
- To have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills,
- To have knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a warehouse environment,
- The ability to operate forklifts, and other warehouse equipment (verifications where required),
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills,
- To have strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail
- The ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures,
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings if needed.
