Main purpose of Job:

To supervise and assist the day-to-day operation of the department.  To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company quality procedures and statutory requirements to the satisfaction of clients and the profit of the company.

Key Tasks

  • Ensure service and profitability levels are developed/maintained in accordance with departmental targets/budgets.
  • Establish Partner relationships through regular verbal engagement.
  • Prioritize workload and motivate department to achieve targets and to work to its full potential.
  • Answer all queries, complaints and solve operational problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Impart knowledge, procedures and legal requirements to staff by coaching and training, as required.
  • Ensure all relevant administrative procedures are followed and completed accurately according to deadlines.          
  • Communicate with customers to ensure their traffic requirements are fulfilled in line with booking instructions.
  • Arrange with hauliers for transport of cargo, confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists, to maximize cost effectiveness.
  • Oversee information and data to the Warehouse / Haulage / Distribution departments for loading/off loading cargo to vehicles.           
  • Maintain awareness of and follow transport regulations where relevant, to conform to all statutory requirements.
  • Control costs and ensure that invoicing is done to deadlines.
  • Focus on customer maintenance / quality to support Sales and Customer Service sections to help maximize sales and profit.


Work experience:                            2-3 years freight forwarding experience desirable.

  • Excellent communication/telephone skills.
  • Sound administrative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word &Excel.
