The Customs Assistant provides administrative support and assists in managing customs-related activities within the transportation and logistics industry. They support the customs team in handling documentation, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The Customs Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating smooth customs processes and ensuring timely clearance of goods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in preparing and reviewing customs documentation, including import and export declarations.
Coordinate with internal teams, customs brokers, and government agencies to facilitate customs clearance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
Support the resolution of customs-related issues and inquiries.
Assist in monitoring and tracking customs clearance progress and resolving delays or issues.
Conduct data entry and maintain customs-related records and documentation.
Provide administrative support to the customs team, including scheduling meetings and maintaining files.
Assist in coordinating customs audits and compliance reviews.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate submission of customs documents.
Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, and industry practices.
Support the development and implementation of customs compliance procedures and policies.
Educational background / Work experience
Prior experience in a customs-related role is beneficial but not always required.
Familiarity with customs operations and documentation is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
Basic knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in customs documentation.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
Familiarity with import and export processes and customs clearance procedures.
Certification in customs compliance or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in the transportation and logistics industry is beneficial.
Familiarity with customs management software and tools.
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Familiarity with customs management software and tools.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technology platforms used in customs operations.

The Pay Range for this position is: $14,00 - $18,00 Hourly USD. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations
