Role
As Manager, Air & Sea Freight Operations, you will be responsible for the operational performance leading a team expert freight forwarders to further develop DSV’s freight network for Trojena. The role will be directly responsible for providing a high-quality service ensuring customers are serviced in line with business expectations and key performance indicators, whilst working on commercial development, responsible for operational quality and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Ensures maximum operational efficiency across all aspects of the freight operations
- Engages and motivates the team through coaching, performance management and appraisal techniques.
- Assist the leadership team with preparation of annual department budget/P&L and ensure that productivity and profitability goals for freight department are met consistently.
- Full responsibility for the management and development of employees within the department. I.e., performance, absenteeism, disciplinary hearings with support of the leadership and HR.
- Ensures that people resources within the department cover the department workloads. i.e., managing the leave calendar, desk holiday or sickness cover.
- Has in-depth knowledge of Freight operations, ensures that customs and processes, are performed based on global, country, port, & mode of transport in line with governmental regulations.
- Responsible for the training and development of all freight forwarders within the branch/country.
- Leads compliance and quality issues for all freight products within the branch, specifically but not limited to:
- DSV Freight operations procedures
- Local/regional/international government and Federal Maritime
- Dangerous Goods Regulations (where applicable)
- Develop relationships with the "core" carriers, clients, corporate compliance, branch managers, A&S product owners, to ensure the highest level of customer service and compliance
- Enables the team to produce and maintain quality work that meet the organization and client expectations
- Seeks cost efficiencies and process improvements within different functions and works with the support and alignment of the Global Operating team to implement appropriate procedures
- Partner with freight operations and sales teams to enhance customer value and business within the region
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- At least 10 years of Freight Forwarding experience.
Competencies
- Must possess strong knowledge and understanding of the customs clearance, government regulations security, and be able to identify areas of operational, financial, and people improvement
- Strong people skills, outstanding leadership, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
