Role

As Supervisor, Road Freight Operations, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily activities related to road freight transportation within the Project.

This role is critical in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of freight delivery, coordinating between drivers, logistics teams, and external vendors to meet delivery schedules and maintain high service standards. You will focus on optimizing the road transport network, ensuring safety compliance, managing resources, and supporting the sustainable goals of NEOM's smart logistics ecosystem.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of road freight operations, ensuring that all freight is delivered on time and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor operations to optimize efficiency, minimize delays, and resolve operational issues swiftly, Ensure the proper maintenance and readiness of vehicles and freight equipment.
  • Coordinate and schedule freight movement across the road network, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and tracking of shipments.
  • Lead, train, and manage a team of drivers, operators, and logistics coordinators, ensuring they adhere to operational procedures and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., warehouse, supply chain, customs) to ensure alignment and smooth flow of operations.
  • Conduct regular audits of vehicles, drivers, and operations to ensure that safety standards and legal requirements are met.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure that all team members are trained on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage and review transportation costs, ensuring that budgets are adhered to and exploring opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Ensure that freight vehicles and associated equipment are well-maintained, regularly inspected, and ready for use, liaising with maintenance teams as needed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of fuel, spare parts, and equipment required for road transport.
  • Optimize vehicle routing, load planning, and driver schedules to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure that freight requirements and expectations are met.
  • Handle any customer complaints or service issues promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience and fostering strong relationships.
  • Collaborate with external transport providers and third-party logistics companies to coordinate shipments and manage capacity.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification in transport/logistics or relevant safety certifications (e.g., ADR, CPC) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in road freight operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience in managing a fleet, freight operations, logistics coordination, and transport scheduling.
  • In-depth understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience in managing a team and working with external partners and service providers.

 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in transport management software (e.g., TMS, GPS tracking, fleet management systems).
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage relationships with vendors, clients, and partners.
