Summary

At DSV, The Assistant Branch Manager plays a critical role in supporting the overall success and smooth operation of the branch. This position assists the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations, managing staff, driving business growth, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of driving operational excellence and delivering exceptional service to customers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company policies.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics, freight forwarding, and supply chain activities to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to meet branch goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Supervise and mentor branch staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Assist with hiring, training, performance management, and professional development of team members.
  • Step in as acting Branch Manager during the Branch Manager’s absence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues promptly.
  • Support sales efforts by identifying business opportunities and assisting with customer proposals.
  • Assist in budget management, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor branch profitability and contribute to achieving financial targets.
  • Identify areas to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to develop and execute branch goals and strategies.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to support business development initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the branch.

Educational background / Work experience / Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation industries, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of all products including supply chain solutions, freight forwarding (air, ocean, road) and contract logistics.

 

Language Skills

  • Business fluent in English
  • Preferably good command of local language

 

Computer Literacy

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others)
  • Good knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (MS Dynamics) and Transportation Management Systems (Cargowise) Tools

 

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.  The employee is often required to walk and use hand and eye coordination.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   

 

Work Hours and Environment

Normal working hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, working beyond these hours will often be required by business needs.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $58,000 - $87,500 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
