Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team and lead the team in ensuring the successful planning and execution of logistics for a series of projects for a major client.

As a Senior Project Manager at DSV, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the efficient movement of materials, equipment, and personnel across various project sites. Your role will be critical in ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. You will lead a team of logistics professionals who are based in DSV’s Houston office and work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, optimize project timelines and deliver materials on-time to end users.

This is the top logistics role for the project and as such the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience with factors such as.

  • Program level management – this is a long-term position spanning multiple projects within any given time frame, with an ever-changing profile of material movements.
  • Material management – The projects have a broad range of material management/control requirements.
  • Major/mega project – The projects are high value, complex, and geographically diverse. Project Logistics experience is required in this area.
  • Logistics planning and execution strategies.
  • Applying systems, technology, tools configured to meet the project requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be the clients key contact for the overall operational performance of the companies’ services as it relates to the client’s portfolio of projects in hand.
  • Must be able to develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to support the timely and efficient delivery of materials, equipment, and personnel to designated project sites.
  • Can Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of logistics professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment while ensuring the team's adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Will coordinate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists, to align logistics activities with project timelines and requirements.
  • Monitors and optimize logistics processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize project delays.
  • Will collaborate with external stakeholders, including vendors, transportation companies, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with local and international logistics regulations and standards.
  • Can develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and reliable delivery schedules.
  • Will prepare and present regular progress reports, budget updates, and risk assessments to senior management, highlighting key logistics achievements, challenges, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Can proactively identify potential risks and devise contingency plans to mitigate any adverse impacts on project timelines, costs, and safety.
  • Can stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in logistics management, integrating relevant innovations to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • This full-time position is based in Houston with options to work remote, with frequent travel to office locations, project sites and customer locations as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Educational background / Work experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management and logistics with an emphasis on construction.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Major Projects logistics operations, demonstrating a deep understanding of project supply chain management, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards within the oil and gas sector, with a focus on maintaining compliance throughout logistics operations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address operational issues and challenges.
  • Proficiency in using industry-specific software and tools for logistics planning, tracking, and reporting. Working knowledge of industry-standard scheduling software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost-saving initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with transportation management software.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $142,000- $212,000 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
