Eindhoven, home to our Air & Sea division, is one of the centres in European innovation and technology. Globally well known for innovations like the light bulb and all the spin off companies in biomedical science, technology and engineering. Close to the most sustainable high tech campus in Europe, DSV daily provides its customers with logistic services. Being an asset light company, DSV encourages its customers, partners and subcontractors to be as sustainable as possible in their operations and to embrace DSV’s Green Logistics solutions.
DAF CF Electric trucks cheaper than diesel trucks in the long run
To minimise our impact on the environment without compromising on service levels and operational excellence, we use two fully electric trucks every day in Eindhoven for road transport from our Breeam Outstanding certified facility to our high-tech customers in the region and the major airports in Europe. The DAF CF Electric, with its practical range of over 200 kilometres, fits in with the work we want to do with electric tractor-trailer combinations for the benefit of regional companies that also value sustainability and CO2-neutral operations and want a green supply chain. At night, the DAF CF Electric trucks will also transport freight to and from DSV at Schiphol Airport. By using the trucks in more shifts, better operational utilisation is possible and the payback time of the extra investment is also shorter.
Sustainable entrepreneurship is a conscious choice
Via 6,840 solar panels we generate more than enough electricity on a daily basis to provide our business operations with power and to make maximum use of both trucks for the benefit of our customers. In addition, the rainwater at our site is collected and used for flushing our toilets. In this way, with these two electric trucks we will be able to do as many journeys as with four diesel trucks and break even within seven years.

DSV is committed to the Science Based Targets initiative. This is a joint initiative by the Carbon Disclosure Project, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and World Wildlife Federation that sets rigorous and officially approved targets for reducing global greenhouse gases.
