Move forward as Application Engineer at DSV in the Netherlands

Are you able to design, configure and successfully implement complex WMS solutions within our European warehouses? Do you enjoy working at the intersection of IT, logistics and operations, with a high level of autonomy and international impact? Then this is the role for you.

You get it done

In the role of application engineer, you contribute to projects at the intersection of IT and operations. You analyse process designs, translate them into application designs and are responsible for configuration and development within, among others, the Blue Yonder Dispatcher warehouse management system. You bring projects to a successful conclusion during the go-live phase. In addition, you configure automated solutions such as AutoStore and add-ons like Packtool, carrier and TMS platforms: you’re on it.

How you do this? You work on European projects from design through to go-live. You are content-responsible for the application scope and work closely with project managers, process and integration engineers, IT teams and customers. You achieve this by:

  • translating requirements into functional and technical application designs for the WMS;
  • building and configuring solutions within the CargoWrite WMS suite (including Blue Yonder Dispatcher);
  • executing FAT testing and guiding system, integration and user acceptance testing;
  • supporting customer implementations and on-site go-lives within European DSV warehouses;
  • assessing the impact of changes and safeguarding quality, documentation and performance;
  • acting as the subject-matter expert for WMS-related topics within projects.

Your team stands out within DSV by supporting the business in general and streamlining customer processes. Together, you deliver projects across Europe, where remote collaboration, knowledge sharing and ownership are key. Independence is important, but you are never on your own.

We are DSV, we grow

DSV is a global provider of transport and logistics services. With offices in more than 90 countries and a growing network of partners, there is no place in the world we cannot reach via transport by air, sea, rail, courier or road or where we can offer storage in warehouses.

At DSV, you get the opportunity to truly make a difference in operations with smart WMS solutions. Application-driven, taking ownership and collaborating towards better logistics flows,

says Tom van Bemmel, Senior Manager Application & Integration Engineering.

In the Netherlands, we operate from over 40 branches, with more than 5,000 colleagues. Together we rise to the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. We make quick decisions at every level and combine ambition and teamwork. This is how we move forward and make a difference together.

You bring

  • a bachelor’s or master’s degree in logistics, supply chain, ICT or a comparable field, preferably combined with at least 3 years of experience in a similar role;
  • experience with configuring WMS systems such as Blue Yonder Dispatcher is a strong plus;
  • knowledge of logistics processes, warehouse management systems and SQL, preferably combined with experience in logistics automation/mechanisation;
  • strong analytical skills and the ability to translate operational and external customer needs into IT specifications;
  • good command of the English language, both spoken and written;
  • willingness to travel 10–20% for work.

It all counts for this vacancy of application engineer in the Netherlands. Furthermore, it is of course important that you feel at home with us. That will certainly be possible if you like to keep going, have guts and want to grow with DSV.
