Move forward as Health & Safety Specialist Dangerous Goods at DSV in Moerdijk or Venlo

You have the unique opportunity to shape this department, develop policies for hazardous substances, and contribute to the future resilience of our operations. You will collaborate with internal (such as the regional DG manager) and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.

You get it done

You ensure that our warehouses and logistics operations are fully compliant and future-proof. You do this by drafting and implementing national policies for hazardous substances, including ADR, IATA, and IMDG, as well as their storage in accordance with PGS15, PGS37-01, and PGS37-02. This way, you guarantee that DSV meets all legal requirements and is ready for the future: you’re on it.

How you do this? As an expert in hazardous substances and regulations, you ensure that our warehouses and logistics operations remain fully compliant with the latest laws and regulations. This role is more than just a job; you are helping to build the future of DSV Netherlands by further professionalizing this department and shaping our policies.

You switch between operational and strategic issues: from drafting safety procedures and developing training programs within DSV to advising management on the feasibility of new storage locations and the cost-benefit analysis of warehouse modifications. You work closely with authorities, municipalities, and industry organizations to ensure our operations are not only legally compliant but also efficient and cost-effective. You achieve this by:

  • developing and implementing policies for hazardous substances, including ADR, IATA, and IMDG, and ensuring storage compliance with PGS15, PGS37-01, and PGS37-02, so that all operations meet legal requirements;
  • applying for and managing environmental permits and advising on warehouse layouts for hazardous goods;
  • analysing legislative changes and advising on their impact on logistics processes and warehouse operations;
  • collaborating strategically with authorities, municipalities, and industry organisations to ensure compliance and minimise operational risks.

Within DSV, you stand out as a specialist due to the unique opportunity you are given: this role is new within DSV Netherlands. You have the freedom and responsibility to develop and implement policies within your field. In addition, you work closely with the QHSE teams in the Netherlands, consisting of 11 regional colleagues.

We are DSV, we grow

DSV is a global provider of transport and logistics services. With offices in more than 80 countries and a growing network of partners, there is no place in the world we cannot reach via transport by air, sea, rail, courier or road or where we can offer storage in warehouses.

says Robert Speelman, Director Operations Excellence.

In the Netherlands, we operate from over 25 branches, with more than 3,000 colleagues. Together we rise to the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. We make quick decisions at every level and combine ambition and teamwork. This is how we move forward and make a difference together.

You bring

  • a completed higher professional education (HBO) degree, preferably in safety management, engineering, environmental studies, or a related field;
  • knowledge and experience with ADR and PGS37, including developing and implementing policies for hazardous substances such as ADR, IATA, and IMDG, as well as their storage in accordance with PGS15, PGS37-01, and PGS37-02;
  • experience with environmental and operational regulations, including applying for environmental permits;
  • a strategic mindset and the ability to communicate at various levels, both internally and with external authorities and stakeholders.

It all counts for this vacancy of health & safety dangerour goods in Venlo or Moerdijk. Furthermore, it is of course important that you feel at home with us. That will certainly be possible if you like to keep going, have guts and want to grow with DSV.
