Move forward as Junior Carrier Manager Road at DSV in the Netherlands

This role offers a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on the transport budget and international road transport across the Benelux. You are at the heart of procuring, optimising and contracting transport capacity, meaning your decisions deliver visible results every day.

You get it done

International road transport in a fast-changing market requires strategic insight, thorough analysis and strong negotiation skills: you’re on it.

How you do this? In this role, you are responsible for procuring transport capacity for all Benelux locations and managing 30% to 50% of the total purchasing budget of approximately €200 million per year. You conclude contracts with established European carriers and are involved in preparing, executing and optimising international road transport. In addition, you conduct market research, advise management teams on needs and procurement strategies, and contribute to the development of processes, procedures and contract strategies. You are an important sparring partner within the organisation and translate market information into actionable advice and decisions that have a direct impact on our transport flows.

This role focuses not only on procurement and contract management but also on monitoring and improving supplier performance, managing budgets, and ensuring reliable management information. You guide implementations, initiate dashboards and analyses, and work closely with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and risks. Your work ensures timely, reliable and efficient transport solutions while also contributing to the development of colleagues and compliance with health, safety and environmental policies. It is a versatile role that combines strategic insight, negotiation skills and a strong sense of processes and quality, with direct impact on DSV’s success in the Benelux. You achieve this by:

  • conducting market and benchmark research and translating trends into actionable recommendations;
  • selecting, contracting and negotiating with European carriers;
  • monitoring contracts, budgets, performance and resolving operational issues.

Your team stands out within DSV by its strategic role across all Benelux locations and for delivering tangible results through smart procurement, clear analysis and strong collaboration with local management teams and operations.
