FAQ

DSV offers a comprehensive range of transport solutions, including air freight, sea freight, and XPress deliveries. Air freight is the ideal choice for time-sensitive shipments, while sea freight provides a cost-effective solution for large volumes. For extremely urgent deliveries, DSV offers XPress services, where shipments are prioritised to ensure the fastest possible turnaround time.

Air freight to Mexico typically takes 2-7 days, depending on the chosen route and customs clearance. Sea freight from Rotterdam or Antwerp to major Mexican ports such as Veracruz, Manzanillo, and Lázaro Cárdenas usually has a transit time of 15 to 30 days, depending on the exact shipping route and weather conditions. With DSV’s advanced track & trace solutions, you can monitor your shipments in real-time, giving you complete visibility of the location and progress of your transport at any moment.

Transport costs are determined by volume, weight, chosen transport method, and any applicable import duties. Additionally, fuel surcharges, seasonal rate fluctuations, and port or airport fees can influence the final price. Please contact us for a customised quote.

For transport to and from Mexico, you typically need a commercial invoice, a packing list, a Bill of Lading (B/L) or Air Waybill (AWB), and possibly a certificate of origin. Specific products, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and electronics, may require additional permits and must comply with regulations set by the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) and other Mexican government authorities. DSV ensures accurate and efficient customs clearance.

For sea freight, the main ports are Veracruz, Manzanillo, and Lázaro Cárdenas, offering direct connections to Europe, Asia, and the United States. For air freight, we use Mexico City International Airport (MEX), Guadalajara International Airport (GDL), and Monterrey International Airport (MTY). Thanks to our presence in these key logistics hubs, we can provide fast and efficient transport solutions.

Mexico has an extensive road and rail network for both pre- and post-transport. However, in urban areas, particularly around Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, traffic congestion can cause delays. Additionally, customs delays are a common issue when transporting to and from Mexico, especially at border crossings with the United States, such as Laredo and Tijuana. Long waiting times can arise due to strict customs inspections, documentation issues, or capacity constraints.

DSV ensures thorough preparation of all required documentation and provides comprehensive support with customs formalities to minimise delays. Thanks to our local expertise and close collaboration with customs authorities, we ensure that your shipments are processed quickly and efficiently.
