Leading with Heart - a Mother's journey at DSV
Balancing busy mornings, full workdays, and family life - finding purpose, patience and joy in every moment.
In the fast-paced world of logistics, where deadlines are tight and expectations are high, leadership often comes down to resilience, clarity, and calm under pressure. For Vivian in the MENA region, those qualities were shaped long before she stepped into the office, they were shaped at home.
For her, being a mother and being a professional are not two separate roles. They are deeply connected, constantly influencing and strengthening one another.
What does being a Mother and a professional at DSV mean to you?
Being a Mother gives my work purpose
When I arrive at DSV in Kuwait each morning, I carry the same sense of responsibility I feel at home. Motherhood has made me more patient, empathetic, and focused on what truly matters. It has taught me to pause before reacting, to listen before responding, and to approach challenges with understanding.
At the same time, my professional role strengthens my confidence and independence, qualities I bring back home to my daughters. They see me show up every day, committed and focused. They see me solve problems, manage challenges, and remain strong. That example matters.
How has Motherhood shaped your approach to work?
Motherhood prepared me to handle pressure with balance and empathy.
It taught me emotional intelligence, to stay calm when things feel overwhelming, to understand before judging, and to support others through difficulty.
At DSV, this translates into thoughtful, patient engagement with the team. I listen more, react less, and focus on solutions, just as I do at home.
What values from home do you bring to your role, and vice versa?
From home, I bring patience, resilience, and unconditional commitment. From DSV, I bring structure, discipline, and problem-solving skills back into my family life.
My daughters, especially Candy, see a mother who works hard and remains strong even on difficult days. They see dedication in action, and that silent lesson is one of the most important part of my journey.
How do you balance responsibilities at work and at home?
I plan carefully and focus fully wherever I am, whether at work or at home. Some days are heavier than others, but clear priorities and thoughtful planning make it possible to move forward with confidence.
Balance isn't about perfection, it's about priorities. Being present in each moment is more powerful than trying to be everything at once.

Words to other working Moms
“You don’t have to choose between being a great mother and a strong professional — you can be both,” she emphasizes. It isn’t always easy. There are challenging days, but every challenge builds strength. Her mother once told her: children don’t need a perfect or super mother — they need a happy one. In the middle of deadlines and responsibilities, she finds a small moment for herself — even if it’s just ten quiet minutes. A deep breath. A pause. A reminder: I did. I can. And I will overcome any challenge. Because showing up strong tomorrow starts with recharging today.
