DSV Road and Xwift strengthen sustainable logistics with Volvo e-trucks in the Port of Ghent
DSV and Xwift are taking a new step in their collaboration with the deployment of two brand-new Volvo Trucks FM Electric trucks. The vehicles will be operationally deployed for Volvo Trucks Gent as the end customer and will form part of the daily logistics activities in and around the Port of Ghent.
The port environment places high demands on reliability, safety, and efficiency. At the same time, the need for emission-free transport solutions continues to grow. With these fully electric units, DSV Road and Xwift address both challenges. The trucks operate completely emission-free, contributing to a quieter and more sustainable logistics chain.
The Volvo FM Electric trucks feature a battery capacity of 540 kWh and deliver continuous power output of 490 kW (666 hp). From now on, the trucks can fast-charge in between operations at the DSV Contract Logistics site Evenstuk in Ghent. This makes them ideally suited for intensive regional transport and port operations, including heavy combinations. Advanced driver assistance systems, air suspension, and the Volvo I-Shift transmission further enhance driver comfort and safety.
With this investment, DSV and Xwift demonstrate that sustainable logistics is not just a vision for the future, but a practical and scalable solution that can already be implemented today.
