New Application for Confidential Vessel Manifest Certifications

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is required to disclose information on international shipments. However, there is an exception that will allow importers, exporters, or consignees to take action to keep this information confidential.

CBP has announced the deployment of a new online application portal that will allow the submitting of requests to keep a company’s name and address, the shipper’s name and the notify party confidential. Previously, the application had to be mailed or submitted via e-mail with approval taking 60-90 days due to backlog. With the addition of the online portal, applications can be approved in as little as 24 hours.

Applicants will receive confirmation when the request (or renewal) has be granted, which will be valid for two years.
