USMCA Officially Implemented as of July 1, 2020
The NAFTA replacement is now implemented, along with some modifications on previous trade agreements.
On the evening of June 30, 2020, The Executive Office of the President released Presidential Proclamation 10053, to be published in the Federal Register on July 1.
This included information on the following:
• The Annexes contain the New General Note 11 to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule outlining the USMCA rules of origin
• Adds the USMCA indicators “S” and “S+”
• Removes special program indicators CA and MX
Updated Harmonized Tariff numbers, consisting of 24,925 records, were made available on June 29 as well. These contain modifications for the implementation of USMCA as well as recent Section 301 tariff exclusions. This also included modifications for the USCTPA, the KORUS, the USPATPA, and products of Thailand.
