Burkina Faso removed from African Growth & Opportunity Act
Effective January 1, 2023 - Burkina Faso’s participation as a Beneficiary Sub-Saharan African Country in the African Growth & Opportunity Act (AGOA) is to be removed, per Presidential Proclamation December 23, 2022.
Applications of the Termination
The termination not only applies to duty free treatment of regular articles with country-of-origin Burkina Faso, but also certain textile and apparel goods treated as “handloomed and handmade articles” that fall under Title I of the Trade and Development Act of 2000, Pub. L. No. 106-200), as amended.
Therefore, provisional numbers 9802.00.8042; 9819.11.03; 9819.11.06 and 9819.11.30; 9819.11.09; 9819.11.12; 9819.11.15; 9819.11.18; 9819.11.21 or 9819.11.24 (Short Supply); 9819.11.27 (Folklore); or 9819.11.33 (Made-up goods) will no longer be available after December 31, 2022.
