Damage to World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas
Mexico Importation Process Temporarily Halted Due to Severe Storm Damage
Update published September 20, 2024
The Nuevo Laredo ANAM (Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de Mexico) has resumed regular import operations at the World Trade Bridge following a four-day repair effort to address storm damage. Import processes will now be centralized in Nuevo Laredo instead of being outsourced to another customs office, with the goal of expediting trade.

Due to significant roof damage caused by a recent storm, ANAM (Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de Mexico) has temporarily stopped processing importations into Mexico via the World Trade Bridge for safety reasons. All southbound traffic is being diverted to the Colombia Solidarity Bridge, and efforts are in progress to return trucks currently on the bridge. Officials are suggesting truck drivers to avoid the World Trade Bridge.
According to KGNS news, “ANAM officials from Nuevo Laredo are mobilizing personnel to the Colombia Solidarity Bridge to process shipments there temporarily, and all agencies are working together to divert southbound traffic to the Colombia Bridge until further notice.”
