General Economic Development: Euro Area

  • The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was worth 14136.24 billion US dollars in 2022, which represents 6.08% of the world economy.
  • Inflation rate rose to 2.9% year-on-year in December 2023 from an over two-year low of 2.4% in November 2023.
  • Energy prices declined by 6.7% (vs -11.5% in November), while service inflation remained steady at 4.0%.
  • The pace of price rises moderated for both food, alcohol & tobacco (6.1% vs 6.9%) and non-energy industrial goods (2.5% vs 2.9%).
  • The core inflation rate, excluding volatile food and energy prices cooled to 3.4%.
  • On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in December, following a 0.6% drop in November.

Sustainability: External Market Updates and Impacts

All road taxes and ETS are applicable from 1st Jan 2024. 

Austrian MAUT

A new increase of 8,6% on existing road tax rates.

German MAUT

1st Dec 2023: The CO₂ emission class will be a new tariff property. A CO₂ surcharge will be applied, which increases the toll rates with 0,158€ per km. 

1st Jan 2024: Vehicles that are powered by natural gas (CNG/LNG) will become subject to toll. 

1st Jul 2024: Vehicles with a Technically Permissible Maximum Laden Mass of more than 3.5 tonnes will become subject to toll.

  • Distance: is calculated by EcoTransIT based on information about pick-up, delivery, origin and destination addresses in DSV TMS
  • Gross Weight: information comes directly from DSV Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Emission Factor: The adjusted emission factor is applied by EcoTransIT with transport mode specific shipment data such as flight number & carrier information from DSV TMS
