Ukraine: Operational update from DSV

DSV has stopped all activity in Ukraine following the Russian invasion of the country on Thursday February 24th. As the situation continues to evolve, DSV monitors the implications for our operations closely.

Ukraine situation

As the situation continues to evolve, DSV monitors the implications for our operations closely. Following our customer advisories from February 25th, please find below an operational update for all modes of transport, as of February 28th

Air

Due to the ongoing dramatic developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, several air carriers have stopped using Russian airspace. Ukrainian airspace is already closed. This will have a direct effect on air freight services in the coming period.

DSV is in close dialogue with our carriers to find alternative routings to ensure we provide the best possible service for our customers.

Adjustments to flight schedules are unavoidable and increased transit times must be expected. As a result, we also expect a financial impact on air freight rates. We are at this stage not able to provide an exact estimate of the impact.

Road

All road operation to, from and inside Ukraine has been stopped. Cargo in transit bound for Ukraine has been stopped and will return to origin.

Operations to/from Russia is limited. Norway still operate groupage to Moscow via Finland. All other operations only upon request.

The situation is expected to affect road operations in other countries in the region. Significant operational and capacity challenges will occur. Driver shortage might intensify on the remaining European continent, as Ukrainian truck drivers return home. As a result, we also expect a financial impact on road freight rates. We are at this stage not able to provide an exact estimate of the impact.

Rail

China Railway via Russia is still operating. We recognize a potential increased risk with this mode of transport from Asia to Europe. DSV monitor the situation closely and will update if the situation changes.

Sea

Operations to and from Ukraine stopped. All other trades are operating as usual.

XPress

All express operations to and from Ukraine and Russia has been stopped. We are currently experiencing an increase in fuel surcharge.

We will do our best to we find solutions and ensure a continuous flow of supply chains for our customers during these difficult times

Please expect more information to be provided as soon as this information is available.
