Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator (HKAEO)

Benefits of HKAEO Accreditation

Achieving HKAEO status signifies DSV’s adherence to high security standards, enabling us to enjoy a range of trade facilitation benefits. This accreditation recognizes our outstanding performance in supply chain security and streamlines our operations, allowing us to support our customers more efficiently.

With HKAEO certification, we benefit from faster customs procedures due to our adherence to high security standards, thereby reducing handling times and minimizing delays. This means that our customers can rely on quicker deliveries and optimized supply chain efficiency. Furthermore, our commitment to security ensures that shipments are handled with the utmost care, providing our customers with peace of mind regarding the safety of their goods.

AEO Benefit

Streamlined Clearance Through Mutual Recognition Arrangements

The Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program fosters stronger relationships with overseas customs administrations by establishing “Mutual Recognition Arrangement” (MRA). At present, the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department has concluded MRAs with 16 customs authorities in Mainland of China, India, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Macao, South Africa and Bahrain. As a HKAEO, DSV benefits from the clearance facilitation provided under these mutual recognition arrangements, allowing for reciprocal customs measures for shipment exported from Hong Kong to these 16 mutually recognized regions and countries.

Application Process and International Collaboration

During our application process for HKAEO membership, we were honored to be invited by Hong Kong Customs to demonstrate our audit procedures to a visiting delegation from Saudi Arabian Customs. This comprehensive audit included both document reviews and on-site inspections at our warehouse. The successful completion of this process showcased our company's robust systems, professional expertise, and high standards in cargo handling and security.

Team Effort and Process Optimization

The successful accreditation was a result of the dedicated efforts and full cooperation of all our departments. Our team worked tirelessly to ensure compliance with stringent requirements. This involved extensive training sessions, meticulous documentation, and rigorous internal audits. Each department played a crucial role in optimizing operational workflows to meet the latest and stringent cargo security standards. The collaboration and commitment demonstrated by our staff were instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Accreditation Validity and Future Plans

DSV's HKAEO accreditation is effective December 3, 2024, and is valid for three years, after which we will undergo a renewal audit. This accreditation underscores our dedication to delivering reliable, secure, and efficient supply chain services that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
We are committed to maintaining high security standards and continuously improving our processes. We are proud of this achievement and look forward to leveraging the benefits of HKAEO accreditation to further enhance our service quality and operational excellence.”

What is AEO?

AEO is a concept under the World Customs Organization (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE Framework). It represents a Customs-to-Business partnership to enhance international supply chain security and facilitate movement of legitimate goods. At present, majority of the WCO members have expressed their intentions to implement the SAFE Framework. Besides, most principal trading partners of Hong Kong have fully launched their AEO programmes in recent years.
