Hazardous cargo needs even safer shipping
Ship dangerous goods or hazardous materials safely using sea freight services from DSV that comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations, as well as best practices in transport and logistics.
Hazardous sea cargo might require special stowage conditions, e.g. extra attention to where and how containers with dangerous goods need to be stacked. Exposure to sunlight and water is another factor to be taken into account.
In case of an incident at sea, the marine environment could be severely affected through the carriage of any hazardous materials on board. Proper packaging and access to dangerous cargo in the event of an emergency is essential.
In compliance with regulations
The United Nations (UN) classification system lists nine classes of dangerous goods. These must be indicated with specific UN numbers on the declaration form, packaging, marking and labelling to facilitate their safe shipment. Dangerous goods are also subject to quantity limits, which may not be exceeded to ensure safe transport.
The shipment of hazardous sea cargo is governed by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN). DSV is also able to handle hazardous cargo for multimodal shipments, in line with other national and international regulations that apply to specific modes of transport, e.g. by air, road or rail.
