Junckers Limited was initially looking for a solution to distribute goods efficiently into London.
Junckers Limited has been a customer of DSV for over 10 years and between the two companies through weekly KPI’s they often see trends with issues when travelling into London and the surrounding built-up areas.
Weekly full-load trailers arrive at the port of Immingham for the UK-wide distribution of wooden flooring, which can often be time-sensitive for the final mile destination, the consumer. Road closures in central London often delay the final mile delivery, but DSV found a suitable solution to eliminate supply chain delays. Weekend deliveries coupled with specialised equipment were the remedy, whether there was a need for a tail lift or a small artic truck to facilitate the delivery, then that is what DSV would supply.
Operating this way helps make deliveries in London easier and more efficient, while reducing the congestion and air quality impact on streets, due to less traffic, fewer stoppages, and direct routing.
This solution worked for us, we all strive to improve the impact we are making on the environment, we’ve monitored the trends during our quarterly review meeting with DSV and established that adopting the weekend deliveries option with specialised equipment proves to be a more efficient and sustainable delivery practice.
