DSV South Africa driver shines as a Highway Hero

At DSV, being a responsible organisation – whether at our facility or on the road – isn’t just a priority, it’s a commitment. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own, Sabelo Dlomo, who has been recognised as a top driver in the Hollard Highway Heroes competition, taking first place in the Tautliner category. This competition celebrates drivers who demonstrate exceptional care and professionalism in transporting cargo. It leverages advanced insights into driver behaviour through video telematics, provided by its partner, Optix Africa, to identify and reward top performers.

To ensure our drivers maintain the highest standards, DSV collaborated with a supplier to develop an advanced fleet management system that monitors key aspects of driver behaviour in real-time, including acceleration, braking, and adherence to speed limits. These insights enable us to track performance and support our drivers like Sabelo identify areas for improvement and receive training, ensuring they not only deliver on time but do so safely and responsibly.

Initially placed in the Top 50, Sabelo demonstrated that dedication, consistency, and a willingness to learn and grow truly pay off. During the second phase of the competition, he earned a spot in the Top 10 and ultimately won in his category. This achievement reflects the care Sabelo takes with our customers' cargo, his professionalism behind the wheel, and the responsible driving habits that he brings to his role every day. It is also a testament to the value of DSV’s investment in driver training and safety monitoring programmes, which equip our drivers with the tools and knowledge they need to excel.
