Paws and purpose - DSV hosts SA Guide-Dogs Association to drive Shades Day awareness

A fun and educational experience at DSV Park | Gauteng

SA Guide dogs association and DSV employees come together learning about workplace inclusion

DSV has partnered with the SA Guide-Dogs Association in support of its Shades Day campaign, taking place on 17 October 2025. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of eye health while generating support for individuals with visual impairments, physical disabilities, and children on the autism spectrum.

Following last month's announcement of its partnership and role as the exclusive transport and logistics provider for Shades Day, DSV hosted a fun and educational office experience at its South African headquarters, DSV Park | Gauteng, on 10 October, one week ahead of Shades Day.

The event offered DSV employees the opportunity to engage directly with the SA Guide-Dogs Association team, learn more about disability inclusion, interact with the guide dogs, and show their support for the campaign.

The initiative underscores DSV's commitment to diversity, equity, and an inclusive workplace, reflecting the organisation's broader goal of creating meaningful community impact in South Africa through transport and logistics.

It was such a special experience welcoming the SA Guide-Dogs Association and their dogs to DSV Park | Gauteng. Beyond the fun and excitement, the day gave our teams a deeper appreciation of inclusion and created awareness about the meaningful work the Association does. As an organisation, we're proud to provide the transport and logistics support that helps make a positive impact in the communities where we operate.

Candice Liebenberg, Commercial Director, DSV Road, SSA

"Having the guide dogs at the office was such a fun and eye-opening experience," said Janine Smylie, Business Development Manager, DSV Road SA. "It was exciting to interact with them, and learning about the work of the SA Guide-Dogs Association has increased our awareness about the challenges faced by people with visual impairments and other disabilities. It was an unforgettable experience and the best day ever!"

South Africans are encouraged to join on 17 October 2025 by purchasing a Shades Day sticker and wearing their sunglasses to help promote an inclusive society where everyone - regardless of ability - can experience freedom and independence.
