DSV – Global Transport and Logistics has launched a new investment project in Łódź
DSV – Global Transport and Logistics has launched another investment: the expansion of its logistics center in Łódź, which serves as a superhub in Poland. This will further strengthen Łódź’s role as a key logistics node for road transport, through which shipments to recipients across Europe will pass. The investment will also include the construction of a modern multi-client warehouse equipped with the latest green technologies.

Last year, DSV – Global Transport and Logistics announced a long term investment program in Poland. The plan includes a series of projects aimed not only at increasing the stability of domestic and international supply chains but also at strengthening Poland's role as a key element of Europe’s logistics architecture.
The next project being implemented by DSV is a new logistics center in the Łódź metropolitan area, combining warehouse functions with a superhub for less-than-truckload (LTL) road transport. In May, a ceremonial groundbreaking took place. Since then, construction work at the site has been progressing.
Łódź was chosen as the location of the so-called superhub for LTL transport, meaning it will serve as a transshipment point for a significant volume of LTL shipments, both imports and exports. It was extremely important for us to align the facility’s standards with the goals related to the development of our LTL product by increasing both space and the number of loading docks. The adopted solutions will enable more efficient handling operations while also improving working conditions for employees. - says Aristoteleis Liadis, Director, Road International BENELUX, FEP & EAST.
The DSV logistics center in Łódź will have a total area of 24,000 m² and will combine three functions: office space, a classic multi-client warehouse (14,000 m²), and a cross-docking terminal (8,200 m²). The terminal section will be equipped with 70 docks for trucks, including an additional gate at ground level (+0).
According to our estimates, thanks to the large size of the warehouse section, we will be able to handle up to 40% more domestic and international shipments than we do today. We expect that, due to Łódź’s excellent location on the map of Poland, great road connections with major cities across the country, and international transport routes, the new multibrand facility will meet the needs of the transport market perfectly. The new warehouse, where we will implement the latest technologies, will offer future clients exceptional quality and service standards in warehousing operations - explains Aristoteleis Liadis.
In line with DSV’s strategy, all facilities built by the operator must utilize the latest technologies that support the company’s sustainable development goals. Among these is the reduction of emissions to net zero by 2050. Therefore, from the design phase of the Łódź logistics center, efficient use of the latest environmental solutions was a top priority set for the architects. As a result, upon completion, the new facility will meet high ecological standards. The investment will include the installation of solar energy panels with an estimated total capacity of 2 MWp, making the building zero-emission. Inside, LED lighting will be installed and managed via a dedicated IT system.
Sustainable development, however, is not only about environmental issues, but also about employee well-being. To address their needs, the facility will include a chill-out room, a large, comfortable and glazed canteen, a charging station for electric bicycles, and a shelter with a relaxation area.
The general contractor for the project is Rexbud.
