International distribution center in 3 months? DSV – Global Transport and Logistics proves it’s possible

At the very beginning of February 2026, DSV – Global Transport and Logistics launched operations in a new warehouse in Krzyżowice near Wrocław. In just 3 months, specialists from the world’s largest logistics operator had set up a distribution center at this location, where cross-border operations are carried out for nearly all of Europe and key marketplaces. What’s next? Ambitious development plans.

At the facility located in the immediate vicinity of the capital of Lower Silesia, DSV currently operates 45,000 sqm of total space. On 24,000 sqm, the world’s largest operator has prepared and implemented comprehensive 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operations for a client from the home appliances industry.

We are one of the key logistics centers for our client in Europe. As a result, we receive, among other things, sea containers. This means that our employees not only unload them but also sort products that arrive in bulkIn Krzyżowice, we provide full service – from inbound receipt to coordination of shipments to the largest business customers across Europe and to warehouses operated by key eCommerce platforms. To illustrate the scale of operations, we manage the flow of 1,500–2,000 pallets daily. - says Adam Zawadzki, Operations Manager of the warehouse in Krzyżowice, DSV – Global Transport and Logistics. -

The warehouse team provides a range of additional services, depending on the client’s current needs, including repacking, palletizing, creating special product bundles, and labelling goods in accordance with the requirements of individual markets. In addition to Poland, shipments are dispatched from near Wrocław to recipients in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, the Benelux countries, France, Italy, and Spain. More destinations are planned.

Technology that builds efficiency

The facility stands out across Europe thanks to unique solutions. The warehouse uses rarely seen double-deep VNA forklifts with double forks, along with dedicated double-deep racking systems. This combination made it possible to double the available storage space.

We estimate that the double-deep solution, combined with reducing the width of technical aisles to 1.9 meters, increased storage density by 20–30% compared to a warehouse based on a traditional layout The key to unlocking the full potential of this solution is synchronizing it with digital systems. For example, dedicated systems ensure that only one forklift can enter a given aisle at a time. This seemingly minor functionality has practically reduced the risk of operator collisions to zero.- indicates Adam Zawadzki. -

Additionally, DSV has designed and implemented a number of extensions to the warehouse management system (WMS). Key functionalities include automatic allocation of picking tasks without the need to print documents, a proprietary overlay for remote task prioritization, and a “follow the leader” mechanism grouping orders into consistent storage zones. A new “double play” module is currently being implemented, using triangulation techniques to reduce empty forklift runs. The system automatically assigns tasks so that there is always a pallet on the forks—both on the way to the rack and on the return journey.

DSV accelerates near Wrocław

Thanks to the intensive work of the entire team and close cooperation with the client, 30,000 pallet locations are already being handled in Krzyżowice, and this number will soon increase to 45,000. What’s more, not only have we managed to coordinate distribution across most European markets, but discussions are also underway with the client regarding further markets. I believe this is the best proof of DSV’s professionalism and service quality - says Małgorzata Gołębiowska, Head of Customer Service at the Krzyżowice branch.

The success of the operation in Krzyżowice is further evidence of the attractiveness of western Poland as a location for pan-European distribution centers. In response to growing demand, the Danish logistics operator will take over the management of 60,000 sqm of modern space within the Wrocław Campus 2 project by the end of 2026.

Located 20 km from the center of Wrocław, near the A4 and A8 motorways, the facility provides strong road connections to major hubs in Poland and the European Union. Modern spaces and advanced infrastructure make it an especially attractive location for companies in manufacturing, automotive, consumer electronics, home appliances, and all entities looking to expand digital sales channels across European markets.
