Double celebration for Volvo Trucks and DSV
Volvo Trucks marks 25 years in South Africa with a strategic visit to DSV Park | Gauteng, celebrating a longstanding partnership focused on innovation, sustainability and end-to-end supply chain solutions.

Volvo Trucks South Africa is celebrating its 25th anniversary in South Africa - and its partnership with DSV. To mark this milestone, senior leaders of Volvo Trucks, Sweden, visited DSV's headquarters in South Africa, DSV Park | Gauteng, on the 26th of June. The visit underscores Volvo Trucks' commitment to deepening engagement with key business partners and strengthening long-term relationships.
Over the last two decades, DSV has supported Volvo Trucks South Africa with end-to-end supply chain solutions. During this time, DSV has also purchased more than 160 Volvo trucks in South Africa, which have collectively covered over 1.2 million kilometres, delivering goods to towns and cities across the country. Most recently, DSV has started trialing an electric truck in its regional fleet, marking the next step in its collaboration with Volvo Trucks to support the company's decarbonisation objectives and drive sustainable operations.
DSV Road Cluster Head for Sub-Saharan Africa, Ralton Moses, congratulated Volvo Trucks on the milestone, and said the anniversary marked the significant contribution made to the transport and logistics sector in SA.
"Our longstanding strategic partnership with Volvo Trucks has led to numerous successful projects, particularly in the realm of energy-efficient trucking solutions. Volvo Truck's commitment to innovation and sustainability has greatly benefited our operations and has set a standard for excellence in the industry", he said.
President Volvo Trucks and Executive Vice President Volvo Group, Roger Alm, said: "We are very proud of our long-term partnership with DSV. Together we will continue to drive progress in the transport industry, making truck transport more sustainable, safe, and efficient."
Globally, Volvo Trucks and DSV have a long-standing relationship, and in 2024 DSV signed an agreement with Volvo Trucks in Europe to purchase 300 zero-exhaust emission electric trucks. The deal was one of the largest commercial orders at the time for Volvo electric trucks and was an important step in DSV's goal to reduce emissions and lead the green transition in the transport sector. The agreement also included 500 Volvo trucks with fuel-efficient diesel and gas drive lines.
Both DSV and Volvo Group are committed to the science-based targets initiative, which drives ambitious climate action in the private sector. DSV has set a goal to reduce emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 50% and indirect emissions (scope 3) by 30% in 2030 against its 2019 baseline, and - like Volvo Trucks - are committed to achieving net-zero emissions in 2050, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Guests from Volvo Trucks included Roger Alm - President Volvo Trucks, Executive Vice President, Volvo Group; Per Erik Lindström - Senior Vice President, Volvo Trucks International; and Kasja Hofvendahl - Chief Data Officer, Volvo Trucks and Senior Vice President, Volvo Trucks Digital & IT, who came out from Sweden.
