Making sure our education institutions have the materials they require to provide better learning opportunities to learners

Our growing involvement in the education and publishing sectors is contributing towards the building of a better society. Key features of our service include providing a secure environment in which the integrity of the education material can be distributed.

Public schools reach:

Some 62 million workbooks are delivered to 11.5 million learners around the country, from cities to remote farm and village schools in the rural areas. The workbooks are delivered in two cycles, at the beginning and then mid-year.

We distribute learner teacher support material (LTSM) throughout the province. This includes everything from text books and stationery to white boards. In this case, the East Cape Department of Basic Education determines who the procurement partners are and the schools place orders directly on an online platform, a solution which gives the Department of Basic Education oversight of the process, providing full visibility from order placement to final delivery. We access the approved orders off the platform, source from the suppliers and deliver to the 5,000 schools.

We also distribute Grade 12 exam papers for the Gauteng and Free State departments of basic education. We collect the exam papers from high secure printers and deliver them in the appropriate sequence as needed to education authorities, who ensure the final delivery to schools.

Higher education reach:

We distribute exam papers to North West University’s campuses in Mafikeng, Vanderbijl and Potchefstroom, as well as to 106 distance learning centres across the country and into African states, including Kenya, Zambia and Namibia. The exam papers are printed in high secure facilities and packed per exam session and distributed accordingly.

We are providing a similar exam delivery service to South Africa’s leading distance learning university, Unisa.  We will also be distributing learning materials to Unisa students, the students will drop off completed assignments at designated drop off points and the assignments will be collected and delivered to Unisa for marking.

In the near future, students will be able to make use of DSV Lockers to drop off their completed assignments. The assignment envelopes will be pre-printed with a barcode, making it easier for a student to use the DSV Locker network.

Our reach in publishing:

Our secure warehousing and distribution services could deliver economic and efficiency benefits to you.

The uptake of digital text books and other materials has not occurred as quickly as was anticipated and our service offers you the opportunity to develop future business models, while we ensure the safekeeping and distribution of materials.

We currently run Pearson’s warehouse and distribute books nationally to universities, schools and retail outlets.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
