Enriching the lives of South African's through education
Since 2004, the DSV Empowerment Trust has positively impacted over 650 South Africans
Over the last two decades, the DSV-ET has been enriching lives by promoting tertiary education opportunities to young eligible South Africans. Beginning with 18 beneficiaries, the Trust has now provided over 1000 study grants, and has indirectly improved the lives of thousands more.
The majority of our beneficiaries are Black women, and are under the age of 35, highlighting our commitment to empowering the youth and promoting gender equality.
Tiger Wessels was one of three founding members of UTi, which was acquired by DSV in 2016, and the driving force behind the formation of the Trust. His unwavering belief that education can reshape a nation's future remains as strong today as it was then.
Tiger envisioned establishing a corporate education trust that does not prescribe a field of study, providing an opportunity to focus on an individuals natural talent, and one that does not require repayment of the cost of the education. Today, that vision has been realised, and while the benefits of education are immediately experienced by the beneficiary, its positive influence extends throughout communities.
Since the establishment of the DSV-ET, the top five qualifications completed include:
- Bachelor of Commerce
- Bachelor of Arts
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Medicine or Surgery
