DSV’s Shanghai Star Air Charter route now connects Asia to Latin America
DSV’s newly expanded “Shanghai Star” Air Freight Charter route now delivers connectivity from Asia to multiple destinations across Latin America through Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) located in the United States.
DSV has expanded the Shanghai Star Air Freight Charter route “Shanghai Star” to create connections between Asia and Latin America via Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD). Shanghai Star is part of the DSV Air Charter Network, a global express network that provides flexibility and guaranteed capacity for high-value air cargo. This network significantly reduces transit times compared to traditional cargo lanes.
Through DSV’s recent partnership with RFD, customers benefit from a high-capacity, congestion-free cargo hub in the Midwest United States that serves as a strategic gateway to Latin America. RFD ranks among the top 20 air cargo airports in the United States.
DSV is able to bridge Asia to Latin America through the Shanghai Star charter with its weekly scheduled routes originating from Pudong International Airport (PVG) in Shanghai to RFD in Chicago. This route provides access to key industrial and consumer markets in North, Central, and South America. The destinations from this network are Bogota, Buenos Aires, Guadalajara, Manaus, Mexico City, Santiago, and Sao Paulo with other destinations in Latin America by request.
"Adding a third continent to Shanghai Star is a strategic expansion that positions us to better serve our customers' global supply chains across Asia, North America, and Latin America," said Stephanie Penarete, Vice President, Air Product of DSV Air & Sea US.
Shanghai Star launched in May of 2025 as a transpacific service route connecting Midwestern United States industries to Shanghai, China, and Incheon, South Korea, seamlessly. Through its multiple, weekly scheduled services, DSV continues to streamline time-sensitive trade between the United States and Asia.
Whether there’s a requirement for emergency response solutions, a need for reliable, time-sensitive deliveries, or specialized cargo solutions, this strategic routing enables DSV air charter services across three continents. DSV’s expanded network promises to meet the increasing demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
