Investments that change the world for the better

As the world’s largest logistics operator, DSV – Global Transport and Logistics places great importance on ensuring sustainable and responsible business practices wherever it operates. The company has summarized its key investments in the modernization of warehouse facilities in Poland, which bring it closer to achieving its goal of decarbonizing the value chain and fulfilling its sustainability objectives.

DSV’s business practices are based on sustainability guidelines and ethical principles. These foundations ensure consistency across all areas of operation, which is a key element in effectively driving the decarbonization of the business and reducing environmental impact throughout the entire value chain.

International agencies assessing the implementation of sustainability goals have recognized DSV’s consistent efforts. The company ranks among the highest-rated organizations in the transport and logistics (TSL) industry and has received, among others, a Platinum rating from EcoVadis with a score of 81/100, an AA rating from MSCI, a score of 12.4 from Sustainalytics, and 53 points from S&P Global. The prestigious TIME magazine has also included DSV in its original ranking of the world’s 500 most responsible companies. These achievements are the result of the actions and decisions made by DSV teams across individual countries.

Every supply chain, regardless of industry, begins and ends in a warehouse. “That’s why at DSV we focus on finding solutions that minimize the environmental impact of the facilities we manage. - says Marcin Muś, Senior Manager, Facility and Maintenance at DSV - In Poland, we pay particular attention to the modernization of existing warehouse facilities, where even small changes can translate into significant savings in electricity, water, and gas used for heating.”

Investments that change the world

DSV is implementing a number of projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its warehousing operations. The following initiatives are selected examples illustrating how modern solutions support the achievement of sustainability goals while ensuring the highest quality of operations for our customers.

  • Warehouse in Łozienica

One of the most technologically advanced facilities managed by DSV is located in Łozienica near Szczecin. It was here that Poland’s first multi-client warehouse equipped with the AutoStore system was launched. Thanks to robots, stock that would require 12 000 m2 of space in a traditional warehouse is handled with just over 2000 m2. As actual electricity consumption measurements have shown, this difference translates into a six-fold savings in electricity compared to a standard reference warehouse.

What is more, this year a photovoltaic installation, which produces clean power, was launched on the roof of the warehouse. The energy it generates covers 100% of the demand of the robotic storage system. This investment significantly contributed to the decarbonization process in the e-commerce sector, which is facing increasingly high consumer expectations with regard to sustainability. The energy not used by the robotic storage system powers the lighting in the office and social areas of the warehouse and is used to charge electric forklifts equipped with modern lithium-ion batteries.

  • Warehouses in Pęcice and Magnice

The facility in Pęcice near Warsaw is an important distribution center supporting customers’ operations in the domestic market. Since the beginning of 2025, the warehouse has been powered entirely by energy with Guarantees of Origin certificates. These are special certificates issued by the President of the Polish Energy Regulatory Office, which confirm that a specified amount of energy indicated in the document has been generated using renewable energy sources and has been added to the national energy distribution network in that amount.

A new electronic temperature monitoring system has also been introduced in Pęcice. It controls the heating in the office and social areas. Over the last six months, it has enabled a 20% reduction in gas consumption compared to the same period in 2024. The basis for this success is the careful synchronization of the heating system with the employees’ work schedules. Thanks to knowledge of the characteristics of their activities and needs, the system ensures that rooms are heated only when it is actually necessary. In addition, rapid temperature changes, e.g. when a window is opened, are being monitored for by special sensors. If detected, the system immediately stops supplying heat to that location.

Analogous electronic temperature control system has been implemented in the administrative and staff areas of the site in Magnice. Located near Wrocław, it is DSV’s largest warehouse in Poland by total surface, providing comprehensive distribution center services for clients from the beauty and industrial sectors — including power tools, home accessories, and gardening equipment. The system has enabled a 15% reduction in gas consumption compared to the reference period in 2024. The building in Magnice is one of the most modern facilities managed by DSV in the country. It was constructed using latest-generation of components, including higher-grade insulation materials — which is reflected in the relatively lower rate of energy savings achieved.

  • Warehouses in Błonie and Kampinos

Locations in Błonie and Kampinos are two multi-client warehouses with a similar profile. Both facilities carry out operations for clients form sectors such as FMCG, including consumer chemicals, as well as additional VAS services, e. g. co-packing.

In December 2024, an advanced lighting and heating management system was launched in Błonie. Data from the first half of 2025 indicates that its use has reduced electricity consumption by 20% per month and natural gas consumption by 35%. Work is currently underway to introduce a similar solution for optimization of gas consumption in Kampinos – in the office and social areas of the building, a temperature management system identical to the one in Pęcice has been operating successfully since 2024. Furthermore, intelligent digital systems and special airlocks sealing the gates in the loading docks help limit temperature fluctuations in the part of the building where operations and storage take place. That in turn enables more precise management of cooling systems and results in savings in electricity and natural gas consumption of up to 20%.

DSV invests not only in the modernization of existing warehouses, but also in the construction of new facilities. One example being the logistics superhub in Łódź, which is scheduled to begin operations in the third quarter of 2026. The building has been designed in accordance with the DSV Group’s new global guidelines, and will be the first building in Poland constructed under them. The warehouse will be self-sufficient in terms of satisfying electricity demand, and will also be equipped with a range of technologies that will further reduce its environmental impact.
