Job Title: IT Specialist – Senior Database Administrator

Purpose of Position
We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be assisting team and troubleshoot issues related to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities 
•    5+ years of hands-on experience with leading design, implementation, support of open-source databases MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB
•    Experience maintaining and administering with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Maven, GitHub
•    Collaborating with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure database requirements are met.
•    Monitor database performance, identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime
•    Experience with Cluster configurations/ High Availability solutions 
•    Automate the build, operation, backup, restore and monitoring of databases used across our infrastructure. 
•    Working knowledge on DevOps, Agile development processes, exploration and POCs
•    Monitoring database health, space utilization, and system resource usage to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
•    Support day-to-day operations and management of an enterprise level production databases.
•    Monitors user access and performance of the database systems. 
•    Participation in maintenance windows and oncall rotation is required.
•    Contributing to other support and automation efforts as needed
•    Works well collaboratively across functional team boundaries.
•    Adherence to the Code of Conduct policy of the DSV Group 
•    Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in open source databases and recommend improvements or new solutions as needed
Competencies

•    Strong command of administration and support of MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MognoDB and any of databases like MSSQL, Oracle or IBM DB2 is an added advantage.
•    Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
•    Knowledge with Automation scripts and CI/CD configurations using Ansible, Jenkins, Python or equivalent is a plus.
•    A strong drive to engineer solutions using best practices, Security first design philosophy.
•    Proficient in SQL and Database design principles
•    Experience with database administration tools and monitoring systems
•    Having experience with service management tools (ServiceNow etc.) 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 
•    Impeccable attention to detail
•    Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
•    Highly organized and Capable of working under pressure
•    Up to date with trends and developments in database administration

Education
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
•    Certifications across any database platform services is a plus.
