Move forward as Business Development Director Consumer, Europe at DSV

This position is open to candidates based in Europe; the location is flexible within Europe.

As Business Development Director, you will provide global direction for DSV’s commercial development within the Consumer vertical. You will define the growth strategy for Contract Logistics, strengthen our position with strategic customers and develop new growth opportunities across areas including Fashion and omnichannel.

You get it done

The Consumer market is evolving rapidly, changing the way companies organise their supply chains. New customer expectations, changing distribution models and the growth of omnichannel are creating both strategic challenges and new growth opportunities. You will help shape these developments and translate market trends into the continued growth and positioning of our Consumer business: you’re on it.

How you do this? By identifying commercial growth opportunities globally and translating them into concrete strategies, propositions and customer solutions. You will build and maintain strategic executive-level relationships, develop new business and strengthen existing partnerships. You will also lead complex international commercial processes, from tenders and RFQs through to contracting and implementation, connecting sales, solution design and operations at both regional and global level.

At the same time, you will provide direction for the further development of the Consumer Vertical, with a specific focus on Fashion and omnichannel. You will translate the global strategy into commercial priorities, strengthen the sales pipeline and identify new propositions and growth opportunities. As part of your responsibility for the Consumer Business Development team, you will work closely with CCOs, Consumer Leads, Global Account Directors and other senior stakeholders to achieve sustainable commercial growth and a strong market position for DSV. You achieve this by:

  • developing and strengthening strategic customer relationships at executive level, focused on sustainable growth, new business and the expansion of existing partnerships;
  • leading complex international commercial processes, from tenders and RFQs through to contracting and implementation, in close collaboration with sales, solution design and operations;
  • translating the global Consumer strategy into commercial growth initiatives, with a specific focus on Fashion and the further development of the omnichannel proposition;
  • identifying market and growth potential, setting commercial priorities and further developing the sales pipeline and propositions in a targeted way;
  • providing direction to the Consumer Business Development team and working with CCOs, Consumer Leads and Global Account Directors to deliver strategic growth objectives.

Your team plays an important role in DSV’s global growth strategy within the Consumer sector. Working closely with international commercial leaders and strategic account teams, you will drive business development initiatives that support the continued expansion of our global Contract Logistics activities. In addition, you will lead a specialised Business Development team and create the conditions for sustainable commercial growth.

You will combine strategic growth, customer development and innovation in an international environment where entrepreneurship is at the heart of everything we do, says Remco Innemee, Vice President Vertical Lead, Consumer.

You bring

  • a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline;
  • a minimum of 10 years’ experience within the Consumer sector and/or the logistics industry, combined with a proven track record in business development and commercial growth;
  • at least 5 years’ experience in a customer-facing leadership role, with responsibility for strategic accounts and the successful development of long-term senior stakeholder relationships;
  • proven success in leading large-scale business development, tender and transformation projects, with demonstrated results in winning new business and expanding existing customer portfolios;
