Customs Manager
DSV – Global transport and logistics
It takes a special kind of drive to keep the world moving and due to growth, at DSV we are looking for an experienced Customs Manager to join and strengthen our local Customs team.
The role is well-suited for a senior professional with deep expertise in strategic management of the customs, long term strategy setting up and execution, practical experience and strong leadership skills with ability to succeed in a global workplace environment.
Location: Sofia (Airport area), Bulgaria
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic management of the customs declaration department across all DSV companies in the Bulgaria
- Ensuring compliance with customs legislation and the Group’s internal standards
- Coordination and methodological leadership of customs activities within individual business units
- Cooperation with customs authorities, internal teams, and external partners
- Development and optimization of customs procedures, including the implementation of Group tools and processes
- Leading a team of professionals with high expertise in customs activities
EDUCATION BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in customs area in a people management or leadership role within comparable environment;
- Strong understanding and extensive experience in related legislation and practices on a local level;
- Experience working with customs procedures, transportation providers and regulatory authorities;
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Deep understanding of and experience in managing all aspects of customs activities, including e.g. structured planning, organizational and performance management
SKILLS & COMPETENCES REQUIRED:
- Extensive track record in developing, leading and motivating cross functional teams to outstanding levels of performance;
- Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies for customs management activities, experience in the harmonization and integration of organizations with multinational locations is desirable;
- Competence in partnering with relevant internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to customs strategy;
- Mindset, driven by strong problem-solving skills, in addition to a hands-on mentality and result-oriented actions;
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines as well as ability to manage a variety of projects in a high-paced environment;
- Exceptional, transparent and direct communication skills tailored to different levels of an organization;
- Developed people management skills;
- Fluency in English is a must.
