Purpose of the position:
As Business Development Director for Military, Defense & Government, you take full ownership of a highly strategic and sensitive segment.
You drive growth, build long-term partnerships, and ensure that DSV is a trusted logistics partner for mission-critical operations across defense and public sector organizations.
In this role, you are more than a commercial leader — you are a trusted partner to governmental stakeholders, navigating complex procurement environments and delivering solutions where reliability, compliance, and precision are non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of account strategies and plans to drive sustainable growth and profitability in the vertical market
- Manage the overall relationship with key accounts, ensuring excellence in service delivery and customer experience
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior customer stakeholders across geographies and functions
- Act as the single commercial point of contact for all account-related matters, including contract negotiations and escalations
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through collaboration with internal stakeholders across DSV divisions
- Leverage industry insights, customer data, and market trends to shape value propositions and account development plans
- Drive operational and commercial alignment across divisions to ensure consistent global execution
- Monitor financial and performance metrics, including revenue growth, share of wallet, and customer satisfaction
- Champion cross-selling and innovation opportunities to expand DSV’s footprint
Requirements:
- A relevant university degree that equips you with strong analytical and professional foundations.
- 5+ years of experience in business development or commercial leadership roles within logistics or experience within the vertical market Aerospace & Defense
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-regional customer relationships and achieve measurable growth
- Strong consultative sales and negotiation skills, with experience engaging at senior and executive levels
- In-depth understanding of logistics, transportation, and supply chain operations, including commercial and financial drivers
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across cultures and organizational levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, supported by CRM and performance management tools
- Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage
