With a strong focus on data science and engineering, you will contribute to the innovation, insight and maturation of both new and existing products. You will join a team of highly skilled data scientists and researchers, working closely with cross-functional product teams consisting of product owners, backend and frontend developers, as well as MLOps and DevSecOps specialists. In this role, you will help drive our data science agenda, with the ambition to build, scale and continuously evolve next-generation ML systems.

About the team: Join a department focused on our most valuable digital products

You will join Enterprise Business Development, specifically our AI Research & Centre of Excellence, characterized by a strong intrapreneurial mindset. The unit collaborates closely with established MLOps, DevSecOps, and Data Science teams that have operated machine learning systems in production at global scale for several years. We work in a culture where decisions are driven by knowledge, dialogue, and diverse perspectives rather than hierarchy, and where outcomes are shaped through collaboration across competencies.

• Data-driven prompt optimization
• Custom RAG solutions for Intelligent Document Processing
• LLM based multi-stage inference flows
• Multi-modal model input and representations 

Current and ongoing plans set for 2026:

• Establish industrial research focus by driving research-based project work and collaboration with academic research institutions, including publishing our work in relevant ML journals/conferences
• Advanced Context Engineering
• Planning and forming our journey into Agentic AI based methods when applicable (ex. Tool calling and Agentic Memory, Agentic Search, Agentic Event based Flows)
• Generally: Become creators – not consumers – of Agentic AI and multimodal machine learning.

About the role: Drive our AI, ML and Agentic AI journey

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will have a broad and impactful role. Your work will include developing reusable packages and core contributions to our machine learning platforms, while ensuring strong adoption across squads and verticals, directly influencing downstream products used across DSV’s divisions. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, while also collaborating closely in project‑based teams. You will contribute to and help lead our AI and Agentic AI, in close alignment with AI research initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

• Advance multimodal and agentic GenAI: Take ownership of applying GenAI, Agentic AI and multimodal ML, covering image, layout, and language/text modeling.
• Drive AI innovation in DSV’s products: Lead cross-project innovation to solve complex, real-world challenges and translate insights into measurable improvements in ML system performance and outcomes.
• Foundational model development: Architect, train, and evaluate foundational models independently, with a strong focus on LLMs and multimodal systems relevant to DSV’s business domains.
• Knowledge sharing and continuous learning: Stay at the forefront of AI and ML developments and actively contribute to knowledge sharing across DSV’s data science community

About you: You thrive when solving highly complex challenges

The use cases we work with are highly complex and typically require non-deterministic problem-solving using ML and AI, large-scale data processing, high availability, and both vertical and horizontal scalability, often at very high transaction volumes. 

To succeed, you bring an open and analytical mindset, balancing theoretical approaches with pragmatic solutions grounded in what is technically and operationally feasible.

Skills and experience we value and would love you to bring to the role:

• Educational background: Preferably a PhD or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong theoretical foundation: A solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and algorithms to implement research ideas, build upon existing research to create new solutions, and adapt established work to our domain.
• Software development: A comprehensive understanding of core programming and development concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. You will both prototype rapidly and contribute to large, collaborative, long-lived machine learning codebases. We primarily use Python due to the high availability of machine learning frameworks.
• Design thinking and engineering mindset: Comfortable applying design thinking from the outset and continuously questioning existing design choices. You proactively raise issues and refactor early where needed.
• Model development and architecture: Proficiency in building systems from scratch, as well as modifying and optimizing existing advanced AI systems, particularly for agentic, multimodal applications.
• Accelerated and distributed computing: Proficiency in accelerated and non-accelerated parallel computing, including scalable data processing and leveraging GPU/AI-Accelerator technologies for enhanced performance and model-training scalability. We use frameworks such as: PyTorch, Kedro, Apache Beam, and more.
• Continuous learning: A strong commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in machine learning and applying academic insights to solve complex business challenges.
• Practical large-scale experience: Hands-on experience with large-scale, real-world machine learning projects - ideally solutions that go beyond notebook-based experimentation.
• Self-starter & ownership: A proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative and drive work independently, while benefitting from guidance and supervision. You are comfortable owning objectives and pushing them forward end to end.
