Global Transport and Logistics

Global

Job Req Number:  103797
Time Type: Full Time

Are you ready to help shape the very fundamentals of our fleet operations, right as we are integrating the biggest fleet yet into our existing setup? And do you want to set the direction for a team of 7 highly skilled colleagues working across Europe?
Then join the world’s largest logistics company in a role right in the sweet spot between hands-on operational tasks, leadership and strategic business development. As long as you are experienced in managing fleets, this could be your very first position managing people.

“Joining us right as we are integrating Schenker, you will leave your mark on everything from our future business model and fleet size to our IT-setup. It doesn’t get more exciting than this,” says Mikael Trier, Director of DSV Global Equipment Services.

Welcome to an organisation of doers

DSV Global Equipment Services is one of the world’s leading internal rental companies with a solid expertise in trailers and material handling equipment. We take care of the daily trailer operation and rent out different trailer types to the various DSV traffic departments across Europe.

Here you will manage 7 fleet operations specialists located in Denmark, Finland, the UK, South Africa and Spain. Some are in the beginning of their careers and others have worked here for 30 years. But we are all united in our knowledge that if you want to keep the goods rolling, you must think differently and be ready to optimise and adapt.

Join our daily operations, empower your team – and choose the way forward

Your main task will be to optimise our trailer fleet and work towards future growth within Europe. You will do this through supporting your team with our daily operations, managing them and challenging the ways we work – after you have gained a deep understanding of status quo of course.

Based in Horsens, Denmark, you will:

  • Gain a deep understanding of and participate in operational tasks like new trailer registration, trailer rental services, trailer redelivery and updating contracts
  • Guide your team to ensure best-in-class services to our DSV customers, always matching their needs
  • Continue our efforts to define best practice across all our European locations and continuously improve our processes, workstreams and IT-framework
  • Collaborate effortlessly with our DSV workshops and technical team to enhance business efforts
  • Maintain SLAs and SOPs with suppliers regarding trailer rental and leasing

You can expect approximately 4 travel days per month, primarily in Europe, where you will participate in meetings with customers and colleagues.

“Our ambition is to become best in class, and you have every opportunity to help us reach that goal – and only knowing all the ins and outs of our daily operations will truly allow you to do that,” Mikael ends.

Open-minded Senior Team Lead with solid experience in transportation

You approach colleagues and customers alike with genuine curiosity and you have the tact to navigate cultural differences – both as a service provider and as a Senior Team Lead. At the same time, you can critically assess your new knowledge and have no problem suggesting changes to our ways of working.

Furthermore, we imagine that you:

  • Have some years of professional experience in transport and logistics within fleet control, forwarding or haulage
  • Might have a relevant educational background e.g. in business, transport or logistics – but this is not a requirement
  • Have clear management potential – if not experience – and know how to supervise and inspire your team
  • Are proficient in cost control, including understanding how even small margins matter
  • Have sound organisational skills and know how to create transparency even in a large setup
  • Communicate and negotiate effortlessly in English, both written and verbally
