Role: Operations Manager Cross Trades
Location: Shannon, East Park
Hours: Monday – Friday

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Branch Operational Teams and ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, and customer‑focused multimodal service. This role is central to achieving operational excellence, compliance, and profitability, while maintaining exceptional standards of safety, quality, and security across the branch.

What will you be doing?

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Contribute to the Branch Business Plan and annual Budget, including implementing an Operational & Customer Excellence Strategy.
  • Set clear operational goals and activities aligned to the overall branch strategy.
  • Manage financial performance to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual growth and profitability targets.
  • Oversee onboarding and implementation of new business, including SOPs, communication structures, and credit approvals.

Performance & Productivity Management

  • Monitor and manage Branch KPIs, productivity, gateway utilisation, cost control, and operational performance.
  • Ensure best‑practice procedures are consistently followed, identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review operational and customer performance regularly with team leaders.

People Leadership

  • Provide strong leadership and direction, fostering a high‑performing and collaborative team culture.
  • Oversee workforce planning, including staff development, promotions, succession planning, talent management, absence management, and retention.
  • Lead recruitment, selection, and induction of direct reports and support recruitment across the wider operational teams.
  • Conduct performance reviews, regular 1:1s, coaching, and development planning.
  • Address all employee relations matters including investigations, grievances, performance issues, and conflict resolution.
  • Promote cross‑training programmes that improve productivity and create development opportunities.
  • Foster a supportive environment where success is recognised and learning is embraced.

Customer Excellence

  • Support retention and growth of Key Accounts by ensuring outstanding operational and customer service delivery.
  • Maintain strong understanding of customer requirements, proactively evolving operational processes to meet changing needs.
  • Ensure timely and effective response to customer enquiries, issues, complaints, and escalations.
  • Support customer relationship building, including joint visits with Sales / Vertical Markets teams.

Governance, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with UK/Ireland legislation, industry standards, customs regulations, and company SOPs.
  • Support internal audits and ensure timely completion of follow‑up actions.
  • Promote a strong culture of Health, Safety, Quality, and Security through robust training, emergency processes, and risk management.
  • Investigate incidents in line with internal procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate working environment, tools, and resources are available to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Support the Branch Manager with ad‑hoc projects and deputise in their absence.

 

About You

  • Strong leadership and people‑management capability.
  • Experienced in managing operational teams within a logistics or freight environment.
  • Commercially focused with proven experience managing financial and operational KPIs.
  • Customer‑centric with excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and team development.
