Purpose of the role: 

  • This position is primarily in charge of performing tasks to ensure that payroll processing is timely and accurate. Must be able to interpret and understand the DOLE rules and regulations in order to process payroll in compliance with the law.

 

Key Tasks & Deliverables: 

 

Compensation / Payroll:

 

  • Review all employee movements recorded by the HR Team in the payroll system and ensure it matches to supporting documents provided
  • Prepares pre & post payroll attendance check and cascade to respective department team leads for action
  • Payroll run computation through BIPO (Regular and Special Run)
  • Updates exit card tool for resigned employees
  • Reconcile Payroll register report vs. Employee Central (EC) – Orange Check report
  • Reconcile Payroll register report vs Bank files – Yellow check
  • Act as back up for Payroll Specialist for any related payroll activities and deliverables
  • Performs annual tax annualization and all documentary requirements
  • Stay current with payroll laws and regulations to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance
  • Assist in all payroll project initiatives and as directed. 
  • POC of outsourced payroll team for any payroll related items.
  • Other duties as assigned by Payroll Lead or Finance Manager.


Report Preparation / Compliance:

 

  • Acts as back up for the  Payroll Lead in the month end / year-end reports for Finance (Payroll entries, Overtime/FTE hours, accruals and others)
  • Prepares all annual audit requirements (External and Group Audit)
  • Prepares annual valuation requirements

 

Function - / Market & Industry knowledge / Business Acumen / Process working

 

  • In-depth knowledge of principles and processes covering payroll – compensation cycle
  • Relevant experience in HRIS; preferably SAP success factor and BIPO payroll system
  • Knowledgeable in DOLE rules and regulations and BIR withholding taxes on compensation and related schedules.
  • Knowledge in Philippine Labor Regulation
  • Experienced in processing high volume payroll
  • Working experience in BPO / Shared service center organizational structure is preferred
  • Working experience in freight forwarding/logistics business is an advantage 

 

Educational background / Work experience

 

  • College bachelor’s degree (any field or related/equivalent experience) Psychology, HR Management or Business Administration or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in payroll processing or similar role
  • Work experience in preparation of payroll related reports for Accounting Team
  • Work experience in the freight forwarding/shipping line industry is an advantage
  • Work experience in the shared service center/BPO/back-office industry is an advantage
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is an advantage

 

Language skills

 

  • Excellent English communication skills (speaking and writing) 

 

Computer Literacy

 

  • Proficient in MS-Office applications  
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Skills in payroll system such as BIPO or other related system is a must
