Summary
The Senior HR Specialist, Driver Recruiting, is responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring qualified CDL-A drivers to support our growing transportation operations.  This role plays a critical part in building and maintaining a strong driver pipeline, ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA hiring regulations, and supporting the business’s driver retention and growth goals.  The ideal candidate is energetic, resourceful, and results-driven and are capable of managing a high volume of requisitions while delivering an exceptional candidate experience and partnering closely with operations leaders to meet staffing needs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations and HR leaders to understand driver staffing requirements for local, regional, and OTR roles.
  • Source and attract qualified CDL and non-CDL driver candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, and industry-specific platforms.
  • Screen applicants for qualifications, safety record, work history, and DOT/FMCSA compliance.
  • Conduct phone interviews and coordinate in-person or virtual interviews with hiring managers.
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from job posting and candidate sourcing to offer presentation and pre-employment processing.
  • Ensure all hiring documentation and background verifications (MVR, PSP, DAC, drug screen, DOT physical, etc.) meet compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate candidate tracking and reporting in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Build and maintain a continuous pipeline of qualified driver candidates to support proactive hiring needs.
  • Partner with Marketing and Operations to create creative driver recruiting campaigns and outreach strategies.
  • Participate in career fairs, recruiting events, and community outreach to promote the company brand and employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Compliance, and HR to ensure new driver hires meet all regulatory and company standards.
  • This role may require driving and/or flying to branches and recruiting events across the US 3-5 times a year.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the Human Resources field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful, hands-on, high-volume driver recruiting experience (Class A CDL required).
  • Proven track record in recruiting across various driver types - including OTR, regional, and local drivers — within the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements for commercial drivers.
  • Experience using TenStreet for sourcing, screening, and managing driver candidates.
  • Experience using HRIS and ATS systems; SAP SuccessFactors experience preferred.


Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate Excel skills (e.g., formulas, tracking sheets, reporting).
  • Proficient in managing digital workflows and documentation for driver qualification files, pre-employment screening, and onboarding.
  • Comfortable using job boards, social media, and CRM tools to build and maintain candidate pipelines.


Language Skills

  • English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) required.
  • Spanish proficiency strongly preferred to effectively communicate with a diverse driver population.

Physical Demands
Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or remote setting, requiring frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment. Some movement, such as standing, walking, or light lifting (up to 15 pounds), may be necessary to perform daily tasks or support on-site recruiting events.  The role may occasionally require travel to driver terminals, job fairs, or other recruiting locations, which could involve extended periods of standing or walking. Hours may be extended or staggered to support multi-shift recruiting needs and to maintain communication with candidates across time zones.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly use their hands for typing and handling documents, as well as engage in frequent talking and listening. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 
Work Environment

For this position, the expected base pay is: $55,000 - $70,000 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
