SUMMARY
At DSV, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and hands-on partner to operations leadership in a fast-paced, blue-collar transportation environment.  This role provides full-cycle HR support to a primarily CDL driver and hourly workforce – including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.  The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor to leaders and a visible, approachable resource for employees, helping to foster a culture of safety, accountability, and respect throughout the fleet and operations. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary HR Contact for CDL drivers, dispatchers, fleet managers, and terminal operations staff across assigned locations.
  • Partner closely with frontline leaders to drive engagement, retention, and productivity within a blue-collar and professional workforce.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to operations leadership on employee relations, performance coaching, corrective action, organizational design, workforce planning, and conflict resolution.
  • Partner and collaborate with Operations and Safety to support DOT/FMCSA compliance.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding efforts in partnership with our talent acquisition and driver recruitment team for CDL drivers, hourly operations, professional, and leadership roles.
  • Administer and interpret company policies, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage/hour, etc.)
  • Lead and support complex employee relations matters, ensuring prompt, thorough, and well-documented investigations of employee complaints and concerns, while coaching leaders to achieve fair, consistent, and compliant resolutions.
  • Partner with leadership to analyze turnover trends and develop creative, data-driven retention strategies for drivers and operations employees.
  • Support compensation and merit processes, providing insights related to driver pay bands, exempt and non-exempt wage structures, and incentive programs.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (Benefits, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Compliance, etc.) to deliver consistent programs and support to the field.
  • Assist in communication and change-management efforts during acquisitions, reorganizations, and/or fleet transitions.
  • Serve as a visible presence during key driver events, orientations, and meetings to maintain strong connections with employees.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of HR Partner experience, with at least 2 years supporting transportation, logistics, or trucking operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a blue-collar or hourly workforce, such as CDL drivers, warehouse employees, or field operations teams.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience handling complex employee relations issues and concerns, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multi-state, remote driver population
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to build trust and influence leaders in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (e.g., SuccessFactors, ADP, TenStreet, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, driver qualification standards, and safety compliance requirements preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to terminals, fleet locations, and driver meetings.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of this role are consistent with both office and field-based work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate effectively through talking and hearing. The role involves frequent use of computers and telephones, as well as occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching while moving through terminals, warehouses, and yard environments. The employee may occasionally lift or move objects up to 20 pounds, such as files or materials for orientations. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision to effectively use a computer and observe work environments. The position requires the ability to travel between company locations by car or plane and to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting operational areas.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role operates in both office and field environments, supporting employees across terminals, yards, and operational sites. The position requires flexibility to travel between locations and participate in driver orientations, safety meetings, and occasional ride-alongs. The noise level is generally low to moderate in office settings but may increase in terminal or yard environments.


The role involves:

  • A combination of office work, on-site visits, and field engagement with drivers and operations teams.
  • Regular interaction with drivers, dispatchers, and fleet managers in active transportation settings.
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability to support operational or employee needs.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $70,500 - $90,500 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
