POSITION SUMMARY

The Facility Specialist, Maintenance Tech Sr., is responsible for keeping our production line equipment running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Will perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment to include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues. The Facility Specialist, Maintenance Tech Sr., will assist with general building maintenance activities and other areas of the operation as needed; will be required to perform other job assignments as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining the condition of the production line equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repair responsibilities include but are not limited to inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing the production line equipment to include mechanical, electrical and basic PLC related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Document maintenance activities, to include part usage and maintain adequate inventory of frequently used parts.
  • Preventative Maintenance responsibilities include but are not limited to executing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing line equipment, including conveyors, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Safety responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying, reporting, and correcting any safety hazards. Will ensure a safe work site when conducting repairs or maintenance.   
  • Will assist in identifying the source of problems as they arise and make recommendations for resolution. Inspect, diagnose, and make emergency repairs to all equipment and furnishings. Use judgment and discretion in determining the methods and priorities of work assignments and repairs. 
  • Will identify root causes of recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Will communicate and collaborate with internal production team, supervisors, Operations Manager and with third party vendors for outside support.
  • Will perform general maintenance and complete simple repairs in the areas of ground maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, or custodial as required. May be required to assist other departments in the operation. Will rely on instructions and pre-established procedures to perform daily job tasks. 
  • Collaborate with site management on routine inspections including but not limited to production line equipment, material handling equipment, heating, and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical, and plumbing. 
  • To perform assigned duties, the equipment used can include but are not limited to sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, or pallet jack. Operates common hand or power tools. Will adhere to the Basic Safety Forklift Guidelines while operating all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods. Will maintain an active forklift certification. 
  • Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance. (1) Will accomplish all job tasks in a manner that promotes safety; (2) Responsible for organization and cleanliness of warehouse and work area; (3) Will comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety and work rules, and OSHA/MSDS Standards. Comply with Good Warehousing Standards (GWP).
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education & Experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).  
  • 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment with experience in general facilities and repair work experience; will consider an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, and conveyors.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (e.g., sensors, relays, wiring).
  • will consider an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.  
  • Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.

Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program

  • Must have basic reading and writing skills.  
  • Ability to troubleshoot general maintenance and service problems.  
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group.  
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to PLC troubleshooting
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles in manufacturing.
