At DSV Road Transport, the Warehouse Operator is responsible for the accurate handling, processing, and movement of freight within the warehouse and yard to support daily operational requirements. This position coordinates and completes shipments between the company and customers while ensuring orders are processed accurately and shipment schedules are met. The role interacts with internal teams, carriers, vendors, and off-site logistics locations to track freight, resolve shipment issues, and maintain service levels. The Warehouse Operator also performs inventory handling, loading and unloading activities, and may serve as a point of contact for customer service and transportation dispatch requests.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily warehouse activities for an assigned shift or operational area.
- Receive, label, store, pick, and ship freight in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Safely unload inbound shipments and move products to designated storage locations.
- Stage, stack, and load merchandise in the appropriate areas for shipment.
- Load and unload trailers using proper handling techniques to ensure safe transit.
- Verify driver identity, trailer information, bills of lading, and shipment documentation.
- Count freight with drivers and ensure all paperwork and shipping requirements are completed accurately.
- Secure and chock trailers prior to entry in accordance with safety procedures.
- Move freight from staging areas to assigned dock doors and trailers.
- Perform forklift operations and other material handling equipment activities as required.
- Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking functions as needed.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and verify order quantities and shipment details.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and work area.
- Coordinate with supervisors, warehouse management, and freight forwarding teams to improve service performance.
- Dispatch transportation requests when required and assist with shipment tracking.
- Support company performance objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior warehouse, logistics, or distribution center experience preferred.
- Forklift operation experience required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Experience verifying shipping documentation and freight counts.
- Customer service or shipment coordination experience preferred.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
- Dangerous Goods or material handling certifications preferred.

Physical Demands
This position is physically active and requires standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach above shoulder level, climb on and off equipment and trailers, and frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally with assistance or mechanical equipment. The role requires safe operation of powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, which involves entering and exiting equipment multiple times per shift, sitting for prolonged periods while operating, and frequent turning of the head, neck, and upper body to maintain visibility when driving forward and in reverse. The employee must have sufficient hand and foot coordination to operate controls and pedals, as well as the visual ability and depth perception needed to maneuver equipment safely around pedestrians, racking, and trailers. Repetitive motions such as gripping, grasping, and scanning are required, and the position involves working at a consistent pace in a production warehouse environment.
Work Environment
The Warehouse Operator works in an active warehouse and dock environment with regular movement of freight, material handling equipment, and commercial vehicles. The employee will frequently work near forklifts, pallet jacks, and trailers at loading docks, requiring ongoing awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety procedures. The position involves exposure to varying temperatures depending on season and dock door activity, including heat, cold, and humidity, as well as occasional outdoor yard work. The noise level is typically moderate to loud due to equipment operation, vehicle traffic, and loading activities, and hearing protection may be required in certain areas. The employee may be exposed to dust, diesel exhaust, and other airborne particles common in a warehouse setting. Work may include early morning, evening, weekend, or shift schedules based on operational needs.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $17.00 - $22.50 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
