Purpose of the job/ Overall Responsibility
The Regional Insurance Sales Manager will drive business development and value creation for partners and customers within the assigned region. This role focuses on enabling growth through strategic initiatives, partner engagement, and frontline capability building, as well direct transactional sales in collaboration with local offices.
Success criteria/KPI
- Revenue Growth: Achieve regional insurance revenue targets (e.g., % growth vs. prior year)
- Frontline Enablement: Improve frontline insurance sales conversion rate.
- Market Penetration: Expand insurance product adoption across key customer segments (e.g., % penetration in target accounts).
Key Tasks
Business Development & Strategy
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the region to expand insurance offerings.
- Collaborate with regional leadership to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
Partner & Customer Value Creation
- Build strong relationships with key partners to enhance collaboration and mutual growth.
- Develop value propositions tailored to customer needs and market dynamics.
- Support implementation of innovative insurance solutions that drive customer satisfaction.
Sales Enablement & Training
- Design and deliver training programs for frontline staff to improve product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
- Act as a subject matter expert for cargo insurance products and processes.
- Monitor performance and provide coaching to ensure consistent execution of sales strategies.
Performance Management
- Track regional KPIs and provide regular reporting to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Captive Management
- Contribute to the daily operations of the DSV owned cell captive including review of customer contracts and compliance reviews.
Professional Qualifications & Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Matric or equivalent NQF4 qualification
- Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Finance, or a related field (preferable)
- FAIS Representative Regulatory Exam Level 1 and 5 certifications
- Class of Business 3 & 7
- Registered with the FSP as a key individual
Job Requirements
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in the insurance industry (essential)
- Relevant managerial experience fulfilling the duties of a compliant key individual (advantageous)
- Strong computer literacy skills
- The ideal candidate combines commercial acumen with strong leadership and training skills to empower teams and deliver sustainable results.
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or related field.
- Strong understanding of insurance products and market dynamics, or the ability and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and train diverse teams across multiple locations.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative leader who thrives in a matrix organization.
- Results-driven with a focus on long-term value creation.
- Comfortable working with limited direct customer contact while enabling frontline success
